OMG!!! How exciting although I was born in DR I never got my cedula. Sooooo I GOT IT!!! We woke up very very early to get to the Dominican embassy. Once we got there the lines were not as bad as I thought. These are the steps
- Ask for info at the information desk.
- Go to the tiny back room and get a ticket
- Wait for your number to be called to get a birth certificate request.
- Take the request to the cashier and pay $20 for the birth certificate.
- Head back to the birth certificate window and receive an original copy.
- Back to the ticket lady and get a ticket for the actual Cedula I.D.
- Wait
- Wait some more
- Wait even more
- Call to get I.D. (give a DR address, U.S address, get finger printed)
Just when I thought I was going to get my I.D.
- Wait until my name is called
- When they call me wait some more
- While waiting in line get skipped by a couple of senior people.
- Finally! I take one more fingerprint and receive my I.D.
O no I wasn’t ready!!!!!!!

I know I know I look crazy as you can see on the bottom right.
Oh and by the way, they did not recognize my American marriage so I am considered single. Hee hee
